Sarah Hammerstad’s practice focuses on real estate and general business litigation. She has experience with all aspects of civil litigation, including case evaluation, pleadings, legal research and analysis, motion practice, discovery preparation, alternative dispute resolution, and trial. In her practice, Sarah represents both businesses and individuals in a variety of matters, including non-disclosure cases, easement disputes, quiet title actions, partition actions, residential and commercial foreclosures, landlord-tenant disputes, commercial litigation, construction defect cases, breach of contract cases, trade secret misappropriation, and general commercial disputes.
Prior to joining Slater Hersey, Sarah worked as a civil litigation associate at a medium-sized firm in San Jose, California, where her practice focused on real estate litigation. Sarah is also an active affiliate member of the Santa Clara County Association of Realtors (SCCAOR) and serves on the executive committee for the SCCAOR Young Professionals Network. She also is an advisory board member for the Katharine and George Alexander Community Law Center. Most recently, Sarah has become involved with the YWCA and planning the organization’s annual fundraising luncheon.
Sarah earned bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Art History with highest honors from the University of California, Davis in 2005. She went on to earn her law degree from Santa Clara University School of Law in 2010, graduating magna cum laude. During law school, Sarah focused on civil litigation, real estate financing and development classes, and served as the President of the Real Estate Law Society. She also organized presentations on various environmental law and sustainability issues, including green building and leasing. Between completing her undergraduate studies and earning her law degree, Sarah supported construction and real estate litigation attorneys as a paralegal.
